Shot Blue Marilyn, 1964

This is one of the most popular pieces of Marilyn Monroe artwork, by Andy Warhol.  It also comes as a set of 3 with background colors of red, orange, and this blue.  The story behind this print is that it was produced in Andy Warhol’s studio, “The Factory”, and a groupie of Andy’s decided to shoot through the pile of canvases of Marilyn Monroe art.  Thus, the name “Shot Blue Marilyn”!  Very interesting story, indeed…

Reclined Marilyn

This is one of our most popular Marilyn Monroe prints from a painting by artist Frank Ritter.  Sometimes called “Red Lips” because it’s a black and white picture, but features Marilyn’s red lips.  This Marilyn print is 39 x 20 and can be transferred to canvas or framed or bought like it is.

Marilyn Monroe – Seven Year Itch

The pictures that Marilyn Monroe is most known for were the series from the movie “The Seven Year Itch”.  Standing over a grate in the street, the air blows up her skirt–oh, so sexy!  We have a series of almost 2 dozen photos and posters from that movie, most of which feature this publicity-type photo of the movie–Marilyn Monroe with her skirt flying up.  Some are movie posters, and some are in color.  This is one of the more well-known Marilyn photos from the movie.

Legal Action

Artist Chris Consani created a whole series of art that’s well-loved and is of famous movie stars, together.  He really pays tribute to the big names of that era of Hollywood.  This particular piece of Marilyn Monroe art includes Marilyn, Elvis, James Dean and Humphrey Bogart playing pool.  Chris Consani produced many movie posters and album covers and usually portrays movie stars spending time together having fun.

Marilyn Monroe had a colorful life involving Hollywood movie stars and other famous people including President John F. Kennedy.  Born in Los Angeles as Norma Jean, she changed her name for Hollywood.  One of her most famous marriages (there were three) was to Joe DiMaggio.  She starred in 30 films and was named “Sexiest Woman” by People and Playboy almost 30 years after she died.  Marilyn Monroe was only 36 years old when she died in her home in Southern California.  The world was shocked that someone so vibrant and young could be gone.
